How to Persevere Through Trying Times
Life is full of challenges. Difficulties arise in all aspects of your life, and your fitness routine is no exception. In order to achieve your fitness goals, you must stick with them. This can be a struggle, but Exalt wants to remind you to persevere no matter what. When you feel like giving up, remember that God is with you. The following tips and tricks can help you persevere through the challenges on your fitness journey, along with any other challenge life throws at you.
“Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours” (Mark 11:24).
If you are struggling, one of the best things you can do is pray. Make sure you are praying for the right things. Don’t pray to wake up one morning with all your goals accomplished. You must be willing to put in the work. Instead, pray that God gives you strength and perseverance. Pray that you can understand what God is asking of you. Pray that God gives you the qualities needed to achieve your goals. God will hear you and, while He might not give you exactly what you asked for, know that He will give you exactly what you need.
Take A Break
“Return to your rest, my soul, for the Lord has been good to you” (Psalm 116:7).
Sometimes it is important to take a break from your routine when you feel like giving up. If you work out too much, you run the risk of burning out. Acknowledge when you are on the verge of burning out so you know when you need to take a step back. Take some time to do something relaxing. Find an activity that you enjoy doing and fit that into your schedule. By incorporating breaks into your fitness routine, you will be more energized and able to persevere.
“For to this you have been called, because Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example, so that you might follow in his steps” (1 Peter 2:21).
Having someone to look up to is very beneficial when you are struggling to meet your goals. Role models can offer a great deal of inspiration. So many people have been through similar challenges to the ones you are going through. By listening to their stories, you can see how they persevered. By imitating them, you too can succeed.
“A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones” (Proverbs 17:22).
When you are going through tough times, it is easy to get discouraged. Instead of dragging yourself down with negative thoughts, train yourself to stay optimistic. Change your mentality about your struggles. Find the good in every situation and focus on that. When you are faced with difficulties, use them as opportunities to improve yourself, instead of excuses to quit.
Focus On The Big Picture
“May he give you the desire of your heart and make all your plans succeed” (Psalm 20:4).
Remembering why you are doing something in the first place helps motivate you during tough times. In order to achieve a goal, you have to go through many little steps to get there. If you forget to keep your eye on the big picture, you might get lost in the little things. You may even begin to believe that it is impossible to accomplish every single thing. Once you remember that they are only stepping stones to your ultimate goal, you will find a renewed desire to press on.
“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you” (Matthew 7:7).
If you feel like you can’t do something, instead of giving up, look for help. No one said you have to do everything alone. Help might come in the form of a workout group or class, an athletic trainer, or inspirational christian athletic wear. Exalt provides encouragement through christian workout clothing. The images and phrases on the shirts will inspire you to persevere through every trial you find yourself facing.
Don’t give up on your fitness journey. When you are going through trying times, remember to pray, take breaks when you need them, and find your role models. Remain optimistic, and don’t be afraid to seek help. Find strength in yourself to press on through your trials and see how perseverance will change your life for the better.
